(August 8, 1913 - June 1, 2006) Emma Kate Sheffey Young, age 92, of the Pleasant Grove Community, passed away, Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Cocke County Baptist Convalescent Center. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Church. Emma was born and raised in the Edwina Community until she married and moved to the Pleasant Grove Community and lived for 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Young; parents, Robert and Nannie Sheffey; and brother, Bill Sheffey. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Horvat of Roselle, Ill, Joan Ramsey of Cosby, Charlene Phillips of Newport; son, Walter “Jason” Young of Newport; granddaughter, Rachel Callison of Morristown; grandsons, David Horvat of Roselle, Ill, Danny, Dennis and Bobby Ramsey all of Cosby, Barry Phillips of Del Rio; Todd Holt of Dothan, Alabama , special great-grandson Hunter Phillips of Del Rio, and sister in law Sara Sheffey of Newport.. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm, Friday, June 2, 2006 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ramson Hall and Rev. Fred Cagle officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday June 3, 2006 in Cotheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday prior to the funeral at Manes Funeral Home.
