McClaflin , Mary E. (nee Green), age 81 of Sevierville, TN passed away Monday, December 22, 2008. She was the devoted mother of Patsy (Ralph) Claiborne and Jack (Helen) Byrd, beloved grandmother (Mamaw) of Bart Brazzale, Tiana Brazzale, Tracy (Stephen) Page and Scott (Patricia) Byrd, great-grandmother of Alan and Thomas Page, dear sister of David (Velma) Green, Bobby (Christine) Green, Helen Wolfe, Georgia Lamon and Edna (Emert) Harrell, cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews. Born in Haskell, Texas, Mary spent a large portion of her life in Chicago but returned to Sevierville, Tennessee in the early seventies where she remained for the rest of her life. She was an avid gardener. She loved animals, especially cats. She was a 'scrap booker' before it was a fad and carefully documented all events in her life. She was a recycler before anyone knew what the word meant. She had an infectious laugh and a fiery spirit. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Daisy Green, her husbands Edward Smith and Arnold "Mac" McClaflin and seven siblings. The funeral was held in Sevierville Saturday, December 27, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Eastern Tennessee Chapter, 2200 Sutherland Avenue, Suite H102, Knoxville, TN, 37919.
