Marie Lane Earl, age 69, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in a local hospital. She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
She grew up in Maryville and graduated from Maryville High School. She attended Maryville College and graduated from Draughons Business College of Knoxville, Tennessee. She moved to Chattanooga in 1957.
She was a former kindergarten teacher at St. John's Methodist Church and also taught in the Hamilton County School System. She was formerly active in the Christian Womens Organization where she served as treasurer. Mrs. Earl was also active in the Why-Me program at Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Odie L. Earl, of Chattanooga; three sons, J. Lee Earl of Tampa, Florida, David E. Earl of Chattanooga and Mark E. Earl of Knoxville, Tennessee; mother, Christine Lane of Chattanooga; sister, Alice Blankenship of Destin, Florida; brother, John Lane of Chattanooga and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the East Chapel. Entombment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
