OGLE, IRENE CARDWELL (BABE) - went peacefully to be with the Lord Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the family home. Babe was born in Sevier County May 27, 1923 to Robert Henry Cardwell and Mollie Conner Cardwell. She graduated Pi Beta Phi (Gatlinburg-Pittman) High School and attended East Tennessee State University. She married the "love of her life", Dr. Homer Campbell Ogle, in 1943 and shared almost 48 years with him before his death in 1991. Babe was an active member of Church Street United Methodist Church and the Achievement Sunday School Class. She was a previous member of Akima Club of Knoxville, Knoxville Symphony League, and Knoxville Medical Auxillary. She was an avid golfer at Holston Hills Country Club in her early years. She loved to sing and spent many hours entertaining her grandchildren with song and "silliness". In addition to husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, John, Leonard, and Wayne Cardwell; and sister, Buna Cardwell Butler. She is survived by her son, John Robert Ogle and wife, Judy; daughters, Judy Ogle Stooksbury and husband, Rob, Jennifer Maria Ogle and partner, Kristie; six grandchildren, Amy Stooksbury Ayres, Ashley Stooksbury Donald, Abby, Anna, and Allison Stooksbury, and Jacob Campbell Ogle; three step grandsons, Jeffrey, Michael, and Greg Goin; and four great grandchildren, Keegan and Campbell Ayres, and MacKenzie and Baylor Donald; beloved sister, Trula Cardwell Yarberry; special sister-in-law, Antoinette Ogle; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like express their sincere and deepest gratitude to her loyal and loving caregivers, Francelle Edwards, Mary Moore, Joanne DeFord, and the late, Mary Molique. The family is also grateful to Alice Jones of Baptist Hospice for her special care. Without their dedication, love, and nurturing care, Babe would not have been able to live her remaining years in her beloved home. Following a private interment, there will be a Celebration of Irene (Babe) Ogle's life at Church Street United Methodist Church Thursday at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. William J. Fowler and Rev. Cabel W. Trent officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
