Buna Cardwell Butler of Sevierville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sevierville where she was active in the Joy Rugh Circle, the Wesleyan Sunday School class and other church activities. She was an associate member of the Tennessee Farm Bureau, member of the American Legion Auxilary and other organizations. Mrs. Butler was a former teacher in the Sevier County School System. She was also active in the Downtown Association and worked with her husband in their business for fifty-five years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Molly and Robert Cardwell, and brothers, Clyde, Leonard, John, and Wayne Cardwell
Survivors: Husband of 58 years: David D. Butler, Jr. Son: Robert David Butler Daughter: Mary Ann Newman and husband Robert Grandchildren: Natalie Newman, Derek Newman , Heather Butler Barnett and husband Henry Great-grandson: David Barnett Sisters: Trula Yarberry and Irene Ogle Sisters-in-law: Johnnie B. Cardwell and Martha Butler Rector Aunt: Leah Conner.
In addition to being an exemplary wife , mother and sister, Buna always showed love, care and compassion for all of her relatives and friends. She was a Christian lady whose spirit and faith were evident in all areas of her life.
Funeral service 11 AM Saturday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. H.B. Hauk and Rev. Bobby Ely officiating. Interment will follow in Pigeon Forge Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10-11 AM Saturday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
