Mary Butler Henry, age 100 a native of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee died Wednesday, December 19, 2001. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Pigeon Forge from the age of two years becoming a member of the church in 1914. She also served as pianist and organist for fifty-four years. The Sunday school class, women’s missionary circle, and worship service were the focal points of her life.
She graduated Tennessee Wesleyan College, obtaining a certificate in piano from the University of Chattanooga. Teaching piano to Sevier County students for many years was a source of joy for her.
Mary Henry was the oldest active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. For her seventy-two years of service she was honored at a special ceremony at the Legion in August.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Henry; son Samuel E. Henry; son-in-law, Roger R. Gill; parents Ashley and Kate Butler; brothers, Shirley Butler, Dave Butler, and Henry Butler; sisters, Myrtle Householder, Mattie Belle Householder, Lela Roth, Juanita Butler and Florita McMahan.

Funeral service 7 PM Friday at First United Methodist Church, Pigeon Forge with Dr. Michael Johnson officiating. Interment 11 AM Saturday in Pigeon Forge (Methodist) Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Friday at First United Methodist Church, Pigeon Forge.
