RUTH SIMS HILL, age 92, of Dandridge, TN, died on November 7, 2006. Born in Sevier County on Sims Road on December 4, 1913, to the late John Marion Sims and Huldia Thomas Sims, she graduated Maury High School in Dandridge (class of 1935), where she later met and married the late William Richard Hill on June 3, 1939. She dedicated her life to the care and love of her husband and two daughters, Linda Hill Long of Bristol, VA, and Jane Hill Fleming of Nashville, TN, and their husbands, Dan Long and Jim Fleming. She was a renowned bread maker and cook, using the products of her husband’s W. C. Hill Milling Co., an avid bridge player for years, and with dear friend, the late Elsie Zirkle, designed floral arrangements each Sunday for many years for the First United Methodist Church in Dandridge, where she was one of the church’s oldest members. She was predeceased by her husband, William Richard Hill, and six sisters, Clessie Seaton, Estalee Ogle, Lynn French, Myrtle Davenport, Gladys Butcher, and Mildred Huff. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dan Long, and Jane and Jim Fleming; sisters, Ruby Fox and Wilma Woods; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Fern Sims; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church of Dandridge with Reverend Larry DeVault officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the church. Private graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery on Saturday.
