SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Mayford Marshall Seaton, 90, died early Friday morning Jan. 2, 1998. He joins his beloved wife Clessie, who died in 1993.
Mr. Seaton spent his life trying to better his community through his chosen profession, teaching. He served as a teacher, principal and superintendent of Sevier County Schools. He began his career in a one-teacher school and retired in 1973 after 42 years of service. Mr. Seaton also tried to make a difference in his communith through his church, Middle Creek United Methodist. He attended faithfully and served in many leadership positions until sickness prevented his attendance.
He is survived by children, Charlotte Seaton Huff, and husband, Charles, of Sevierville, Tenn., Kenneth Seaton of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Robert Seaton, and wife, Connie, of Kingsport, Tenn., and Jay Seaton, and wife, Becky, of Newport News; grandchildren, Sharon Seaton Broyles, and husband, Perry, Joan Huff Hatmaker, and husband, John, Karen Seaton Settles, and husband, Bryan, Kim Seaton Davis, and husband, Tim, Amy Huff Parton, and husband, Tony, Kenneth Marshall Seaton II, Andrea Seaton, Jacoba Seaton, Jason Seaton and Leslie Mullins; great-grandchildren, Michael Broyles, Courtney Broyles, Annie Hatmaker, Jordan White, Hunter Settles, Brandon Parton, Christian Parton, Marshall Seaton, Garrett Ellison and Joseph Seaton; former daughter-in-law, Barbara Seaton; and loving friend and long-time care provider for both Mr. and Mrs. Seaton, Rosa Gregg. Mayford Seaton was a wonderful, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Middle Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. John Graham, Rev. Bob Bostick and Rev. Clyde Fisher officiating. Interment will be 10 a.m. Monday in Middle Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Perry Broyles, Tim Davis, John Hatmaker, Tony Parton, Jason Seaton, Kenneth Marshall Seaton II and Bryan Settles.
Memorials may be made to Middle Creek United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Middle Creek United Methodist Church. Atchley Funeral Home in charge.

P.F. Miss Clessie Sims & Mr. Mayford M. Seaton and Miss Esta Lee Sims & Mr. Harry Ogle were united in marriage in a double ceremony performed by Rev. Pope, pastor of the First Baptist Ch. of Jefferson City on Monday.
The brides are daughters of M/M John Sims of Fairgarden. Mr. Seaton is a teacher in the el. Schools of Sev. Co, and Mr. Ogle is engaged in farming.
