Eugene “Gene” Manning, age 74 of Sevierville, passed away Friday, January 06, 2012. Gene was born July 31, 1937 and grew up in the Flat Creek Community of Sevier County. He was owner of Manning Tractor and Equipment in Sevierville for many years. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Esta (Patterson) Manning and an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years , Stella Hodges Manning; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Lynn McMahan; grandchildren, Mitchell McMahan and fiancee Telena Smith, Matthew and Rebecca McMahan; brother, Roy Manning; sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Carl Rayfield; nieces, Tracy Manning and Kathy Ogle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Erica Manning 4-H Camp Scholarship Fund, c/o Sevier County 4-H, 752 Old Knoxville Highway, Sevierville, TN, 37862.
Funeral service 11 AM Tuesday, January 10th in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. W.A. Galyon and Rev. Danny Manning officiating. Interment will follow in Jones Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-7 PM Monday, January 9th at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
