DIXON, ALICE GILL LEE - born May 18, 1919 and passed away June 8th at her home. She was born in Georgetown, Kentucky and moved with her parents, S.O. "Doc" and Amanda Lee to Sevierville, TN. Alice was a 62 year member of Magnolia Ave. United Methodist Church. In the early 1930's, her father owned and operated Lee's Drug Store in downtown Sevierville until his death in 1957. Alice established herself in Sevierville as a champion marble shooter as a child. Good job for a girl at that time. She graduated from Sevier County High School in 1937 and was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She worked for a short time at the Mountain View Hotel in Gatlinburg during WW II. She married P.C. Dixon, Jr. in 1942, and they had two children, Donna Lee Dixon Tyrrell and Prentice Clifford Dixon, III (wife Anne) of Maryville. After raising her children, she took a job with the Greater Knoxville Chamber of Commerce in 1961 and worked there until her retirement in 2005. She loved her job and all of the people with whom she worked, and she loved Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, P.C.; granddaughter, Amanda Lee Tyrrel; and son in law, John David Tyrrel. She is survived by her two children; brother, Bill O. Lee (wife Gloria) of Metairie, Louisiana; grandson, Daniel Neil Dixon; cousins, Marjorie Silvers Horton and Nelson K. Silvers; and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the dedicated caregivers: Doris, Patti and Peggy who gave such loving care and comfort to Alice around the clock. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10th with funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. at Gentry-Griffey Chapel with Rev. H. Walter Willis, Jr. officiating. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge. Arrangements by Gentry-Griffey Chapel.
