  [S4] Knoxville News-Sentinel (Tennessee), 11 Nov 2008. HOWARD, ILA LUCILLE DENTON - age 88 of Knoxville passed to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 9, 2008. Born February 16, 1920, she was the last surviving child of the late J.C. and Edith Denton. She is a member of Second Presbyterian Church and is retired from Millers Department store. She is preceded in death by husband, Theodore Howard; daughter, Mary Lee Cockrum McCoy; grandsons, Jeffery Randall McCarter and Michael Jason McCarter; six sisters and seven brothers. She is survived by daughters, Barbara Jean Thornburg and husband Harold of Louisville, KY, Martha Sue England and husband Charles of Windsor, VA, Doris Ann McCarter and husband Ralph of Knoxville, and Rose Marie Clevenger of Knoxville, Nina Vogel and husband Stuart of Ooltewah, TN; and sons, Charles Edward Howard of Maryville and James (Jimmy) Caswell Howard and wife Donna of Knoxville; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 P.M. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Highland South Memorial Park Chapel with the funeral services to follow with the Reverend Mark Braddom officiating. Private entombment will follow the service. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the charity or church of your choice.
