John P. Noland, 84, of Gatlinburg, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center.
He was a member of Roaring Fork Baptist Church.
A Navy veteran of World War II, where he was a chief warrant officer, he retired from Union Carbide after 24 years of employment. He was the former Gatlinburg chief of police.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ersa Watson Noland; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny R. and Phyllis Noland, Jerry L. and Connie Noland; grandchildren, Brice Todd Noland, Steven Andrew Noland; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Von Whaley of Washington; two sisters-in-law and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service was Monday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with the Rev. David Ayers officiating and eulogy by Jim Parton. Interment is 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pigeon Forge Baptist Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Roaring Fork Baptist Church Land Fund, 215 Church, Gatlinburg, TN 37738.

He retired from Union Carbide after 24 years of employment. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, where he was a Chief Warrant Officer. He was the former Gatlinburg Chief of Police.
