Donald Proffitt, 76 of Sevierville passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at home with his wife and family by his side.
He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He was a friend to everyone, he had never met a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Robert Overton; parents, Bruce and Golden Proffitt; sister, Helen Clinton; brothers, Lonas, Dale, and Creed Proffitt.
He is survived by his loving wife Charlotte Douglass Proffitt; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Elliott (Chas); daughters and son-in-laws, Donatta Proffitt (Roy Lafollette), Patti Flynn (Todd), Karen Elliott Arwood (Ronnie), Connie Mcmahan; second-daughter, Shelia Ogle; grandsons, Wade and Hunter Killam, Brandon McMahan, Shane McCarter (Misty), R.J. Elliott, Phillip McMahan (Jenny), Ronnie Huskey (Becky), and Zachary Flynn; granddaughters, Amanda Maples, Ashleigh Elliott, Miranda Kemp (Brian), Jodi Arwood Sims (Logan), Sunshine Reed Austin (Johnny); granddaughter, Heather Williams; 20 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandson, Clay Edward coming in June; sisters, Varnell Proffitt, and Nadine Oakley; special friends, Dr. Roger Barnes, Kent Woods; special family, Scott Catlett and family; special nephew, Larry Dale Proffitt (Penny), several other loving nieces and nephews; his church family at Mountain View Baptist Church; and special little friend: Trinity Webb.
Pallbearers: Brandon McMahan, Wade Killam, Hunter Killam, R.J. Elliott, Scott Catlett, and Randy Starkey.
Honorary Pallbearers: Shane McCarter, Zachary Flynn, Perry Catlett, Ronnie Huskey, Phillip McMahan.
The family wants to say a special thank you to Rhonda, Pam, Liz, and all the staff at Avallon Hospice.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Atchley Funeral Home to benefit the family.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM Tuesday, April 17, 2018 with funeral service to follow at 2PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Graveside and interment will take place immediately after the service at Alder Branch Cemetery. Officiating the services will be Rev. Tommy Henry, Rev. Jack Hitch, Rev. Larry Henry, Rev.
