Cora Hatcher Chambers, age 95 of Sevierville, went to her Heavenly home on Monday, April 25, 2016. She was the oldest member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended until she suffered from ill health.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Eugene R. Chambers; son, Ronnie Chambers; daughter-in-law, Susie Chambers; siblings, Lee Hatcher, Rube Hatcher, Josie Ballard, Echard Hatcher, Flora Baker, M.B. Hatcher and Carl Hatcher; sisters-in-law, Willie Etherton and Lois Chambers; brothers-in-law, Jake and Clarence Chambers; niece, Erma Lee Rogers.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Eric and Sue Chambers, Brad Chambers; sisters-in-law, Lucille Hatcher, Delores King and husband John, Wanda Fox and husband Dale, and Ruby Chambers; special niece and nephew, Becky and Marty Duncan and their children Justin and Jennifer Duncan, Taylor Duncan and Sydney Duncan; nieces and nephews, Jimmy Hatcher, Joyce Wade, Shirley Blair, Geraldine Jinks, Joan McMahan, Eddie Ballard, Jimmy Ballard, Margaret Newman, Don Baker and Randy Baker, several great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom were very special to her. Special thanks to Cora's family at Brookdale Assisted Living for their friendship, love and care during her time there.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends 5-6:45 PM Thursday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Randolph and Rev. Jerry Hyder officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12 noon Friday at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens for interment. Cora's nephews will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
