Mrs. Marjorie Velma Floyd, age 90 years, passed away after an extended illness on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the home of her grandson Terry and wife Robin Barnes in Kodak, Tennessee. She will long be remembered for her generosity, humor, and enduring love for her family and friends. She was wise and a source of inspiration and good advice in time of need. She was not one to complain and always tried to look on the bright side of things. She worked for many years at the Smoky Mountain Hand Weavers in Gatlinburg where tourists came to watch her weave beautiful shawls and other garments, retiring from there after some thirty years. She was a wonderful cook and hosted large Christmas gatherings until her elderly years but continued to enjoy holidays with her family.
She was preceded in death by parents John and Alcie Watson, her husband, Ernest Lee Floyd and all of her eleven siblings consisting of Robert Leonard Watson, Ann Barnes, Rosie Cantrell, Ida Nora Owenby, Dowell Watson, Amos Virgil Watson, Luna Alice Ogle, Unas Watson, Arlie James Watson, Mary Ruth Watson, and Ralph Shirley Watson.
She is survived by her four children, Margaret Clarkson and her friend Bob Felker, Ernestine and husband Dan Athey, Robert Floyd, and Louise Floyd. Marjorie had nine grandchildren, Terry and wife Robin Barnes, Rhonda and husband Bill Hampshire, Rita and husband Tommy Price, Mike and wife Donna Barnes, Karen Farrell, Doug and wife Sandy Stamey, Scott Floyd, Kim and husband Daniel McCarron , and Jenshe Floyd. She had fourteen great -grandchildren, and nine great, great, grandchildren. She lived a long life and her greatest joy was her family, all of whom loved her deeply.
The family extends our sincere appreciation to the staff of the Sevier County Health Care Center for the care they gave our mother during her years there.
Funeral service 7 PM Sunday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Dan King officiating. Interment 10 AM Monday at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens in Pigeon Forge. The family will receive friends 5-7PM Sunday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville, TN. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
