DENTON, HATTIE L. SMITH - age 83 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Mercy Residential Hospice. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a lifetime member of Valley Grove Baptist Church, on Ball Camp Pike. Retired nurse practitioner from the Knox Co. Health Dept. Preceded in death by parents Andy and Jessie Smith, sisters and brothers-in-law Porter and Edna Taylor, Martin and Rachel Harvey. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law J.D. and Louise Yarnell. Survived by devoted husband of 62 years Kenneth Denton, daughter Deborah Pace (John), son Bill Denton (Sherrie) daughter Jama Chandler (Mike). Grandchildren Ashley Hatcher (Josh), Katie Tilley (Dustin), Lindsey Walker (Jeremy), Casey Stephens (Tony), Jessica Cheverton (Heath), Kellie Chandler, and Will Denton. Great-grandchildren Johnson Hatcher, Greyson and Micah Tilley, Kadence Walker, Kaylei Stephens, and Jaiden Cheverton.Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, J.C. and Lorene Cupp, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful people who cared for Momma during her lengthy illness with Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Hollis Cotton, his nurse Rena, and all the staff at Intrepid, especially Angie, special caregiver Mischelle Montgomery, the caring staff at Preferred Care at Home, Admedysis in home Hospice and Mercy Residential Hospice. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Saturday at Weaver's with chapel service to follow at 8 pm. Rev. Tony Maples and Rev. Austin Moore officiating.
