Jack D. Parton age 73 of Sevierville, TN. went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with Cancer on January 12, 2014 at Ft. Sanders Sevier Nursing Home in Sevierville.
Jack was employed at Rawlings Funeral Home for many years as Assistant Funeral Director and enjoyed working there and meeting many people thru the years and making close friends with people. His hobbies were Golf and Music.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His children and grandchildren were the light of his world.
Jack bought his first Gibson Guitar in 1958 when he was 18 years old and along with that guitar set out on his journey singing for the Lord. He traveled many miles and to many states the rest of his life singing Bluegrass Gospel along with his children and brothers and sisters.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Rev. Orville S. and Bessie Smelcer Parton; Father and mother-in-law, Bruce and Martha Ainer Ownby Maples; brother-in-law and wife, Ben and Susie Maples; sister-in-law and husband, Kathyrn and Arnold Russell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Georgia Maples Parton; children, Lisa Stubbs and husband, Sam; Tony Parton and wife Tania; grandchildren, Dani, Luke, Lela and Jack Travis (JT).; sisters, Carlena Whitted and husband Ben, Maxine Williams and husband, Willie, Rosie Sutton and husband, Sam, Stanley Parton and wife Kay, Jerry Parton and wife Faye; nieces and nephews, Wendell, Rose, Teresa, Sherry, Shannon, Samantha, Beth. Chad, Jeremy, Marcus, Anna, Liz, Ben, Alise, Leann and Brad.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Ft. Sanders Sevier Nursing Home, to Dr. Eric Hasemeier, Charlene Matthews and Covenant Hospice for the love and excellent care they have shown Jack and the family during his illness.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at Rawlings Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Whitted, Andy Miller, and Dave Burnette officiating. The family will receive friends 4:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Rawlings prior to the service. A private interment is planned for a later date.
