Melvin Wilson Brickey, 84, of Knoxville, but formerly of Sevierville, went home to be with his Lord and other family members who were waiting for him in Heaven. He began his journey on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
During WWII Melvin served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
Waiting for Melvin to join them in Heaven is his wife, Vida Banks Brickey; daughters, Patricia Lane and Barbara Livesay; parents, Mel and Mamie McCarter Brickey; brother, Ralph Brickey; sister, Johnnie Hurst.
Leaving behind to mourn his passing but celebrating his life is his daughter, Jane Ellen Jackson and husband Mike; grandchildren, Brickey and Michael Lane, Yvette Davis and husband Rod, Alan Livesay and wife Tracy; great grandchildren, Amanda Livesay, Andrew and Sarah Davis; sister, Juanita Douglas; son-in-law, Bill Lane.
Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2005 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ben Whitted officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mattox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Rawlings Funeral Home.
