Trentham to celebrate 90th birthday
Ruby Stogner Trentham will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house hosted by her children from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, Maryville, where she has been a member for 47 years. Family and friends are invited to attend.
She requests no gifts.
Mrs. Trentham was born in 1917 in Gurley, Ala. She graduated from Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green, Ala., in 1938, and moved to Sevier County in the 1940s where she met and married Sam Trentham in 1946.
Her family includes children Lillian Lancaster and husband Earl, of Louisville, Mike Trentham and wife Cynthia (C.A.), of Rogersville, Pat Carver and husband Tom, of Maryville, step-son, Jack Overstreet and wife Kathy, of Warren, Ore. She has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Trentham is a homemaker. She still teaches a Sunday school class at church. She and her husband enjoyed 22 years of monthly camping trips with the Fort Loudoun Campers Club, which they joined in 1978.

Sarah "Ruby" Stogner Trentham, age 96, born 10 Dec 1917 in Gurley, Madison County, AL , died at her home in Maryville, TN and went to reside with her Lord and Savior on 16 Nov 2014. She was a loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Maryville, TN for over 54 years where she taught Sunday school for more than 49 years. She and husband, Sam, enjoyed camping and were members of the Ft. Loudon Camping Club for many years. She was employed by Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL, Cliff Dwellers in Gatlinburg, TN and St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville, TN before she married in 1946 and was a dedicated homemaker for her entire married life. She wrote many poems during her lifetime and submitted numerous articles that were published in various magazines and newspapers. She loved genealogy and spent over 30 years researching her family history and collecting family data. She was a great letter writer and corresponded with family and friends all over the USA.
Predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Sam E Trentham, son of Noah and Mary Jane Ogle Trentham; grandparents: William Andrew and Sarah Evelyn Gardiner Stogner and John Wesley and Mary Eliza Clark Ikard, Jr. Parents: James DeWitt and Naoma Lenora Ikard Stogner of Pigeon Forge, TN. Siblings and spouses: Shelby S Stogner (Geneva Browning) of IL, William Aubray Stogner died at 7 mo old in AL, Comer Baxter Stogner (Levyrn McBee) of AL, Mamie Elizabeth (Olin) Watson of Gatlinburg, TN, Rev. Hulett Stogner (Kate Trentham) of Rogersville, TN, Lillian Marie (Jack) Crossley of PA . Son-in-law: Howard "Earl" Lancaster, Louisville, TN; Daughter-in-law: Kathy Runyan Overstreet, Warren, OR; Grandsons: Ryan Overstreet, Warren, OR; Thomas Bright, Maryville, TN.

Great Grandchildren: Josi Harrison, Hayden & Kendall Overstreet, Ore; Kaitlyn & Olivia Collins, Brittany, Fletcher & Benjamin Norrod, and Julie Bright, Maryville, TN; Bethany and Gabriel Pesterfield, Louisville, TN. Numerous special nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends 4-6 PM Thursday with funeral service to follow at 6 PM at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, 1918 Madison Avenue, Maryville, TN 37804. Dr. Glenn Cummings and her nephew, Rev. Terry Russell will officiate. Family and friends will meet 11:30 AM Friday in Atchley's Smoky Mountain Chapel in Pigeon Forge with interment to follow at 12 noon in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens.
