Buford “Boodie” Hurst, 79, of Sevierville passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017. He was Baptist and kept the faith. Boodie was born on June 25, 1938 in Newport, TN and was raised in the Jones Cove area. He worked for Bush’s Baked Beans for many years. Boodie was talented in many areas, but turtle hunting was his expertise. He enjoyed the outdoors and was happiest while hunting and fishing with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Clay Hurst; brother, Glen Hurst; sister, Janie Shahan; daughter, Tammy Maples; and brothers-in-law, Estle Breeden and Benny Etherton.
Buford is survived by his former wife, Lorrian Janice Hurst;
Sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Ricky and Para Hurst, James and Amanda Hurst, Stevie and Jessica Hurst, Patrick and Christina Hurst;
Daughter, Betty Hurst;
Grandchildren, Jennifer Caughron, Nicole Sullivan, Ruth Justice, Sarah Hurst, Misty Carr, Dustin Hurst, Patrick Hurst, Daniel Blankenship, Airica Richmond, Kristopher and Kaiden Daniels;
Brother, Clifford Hurst;
Sister-in-law, Louise Hurst;
Sisters, Leona Breeden and Eula Etherton;
Extended family members and Special friends, Lynn Feezel, Casey Bradley, Debbie Frazier, Roberta Frazier, and Charlie Frazier.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Atchley Funeral Home to benefit the family.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday with a funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. David Newman and Rev. B.J. Burns officiating. Interment 11 AM Wednesday in Bachelor-Rolen Cemetery.
