CAYLOR, L.G., MD - age 96, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Friday morning, April 7, 2006 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice Center. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Powell. He practiced internal medicine for 50 years at St. Mary's and Ft. Sanders Hospitals after receiving his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. He was an avid farmer, raising Angus Cattle on his farms in the Riverdale and Townsend communities. Dr. Caylor showed his appreciation for Lincoln Memorial University, where he received his undergraduate degree, by establishing the Chair of Nursing for the Caylor School of Nursing and Allied Health. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Viann Hillman Caylor; his parents, George & Mary Caylor; and sisters, Angie Myers, Lela Whitehead, Mae Hagan, Pearl Headrick, and Eva Bowers. He is survived by his wife, Eva Mae Carroll Vannoy Caylor; stepchildren and their spouses, Viann and Bill Goins, Mary and Mike Lovett, John and Kathy Vannoy; grandchildren, Becky Goins McLean, Michelle Lovett Madison, Lauren and Chandler Vannoy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Jim Waddell officiating and remembrances by Dr. John Vannoy. Family and friends will meet at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Townsend Monday for a 1:00 P.M. interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Residential Hospice Center, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938. The family will receive friends 5-7:00 P.M.
