ANN TIMSON MATEER, 98, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on September 19, 2012 at Larksfield Place in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on August 1, 1914 in Highland Park, Illinois to Charles Eldred Timson and Marjorie Ludlow Fletcher Timson. Ann moved from Highland Park to Hickory Knoll Farm in Deerfield, Illinois where she and her brothers, Eldred "Jim" Timson and Andrew Ludlow Timson grew up. Ann attended Northwestern University where she met her husband, Bruce DeLoss Mateer. They married on November 16, 1935 in Evanston, Illinois. During their almost sixty-seven years of marriage, Ann and Bruce lived in Deerfield, Illinois; Park Ridge, Illinois; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Sun City West, Arizona; and Wichita, Kansas. Bruce died on October 29, 2002. Ann and Bruce had five children: Bruce Timson Mateer (Suzanne Kraft), Samuel Andrew Mateer (Lois Peyton), Carol Mateer Brooks (Robert), Don Metz Mateer (Dawn Hallsten), and Charles Fredrick Mateer (Debra Peterson), Ann is survived by her children and their spouses, her sixteen grandchildren: Kevin Mateer (Meredith), Christine Swanson (Christopher), Kathryn Mateer, Stephen Mateer (Lori), Yvonne Campbell (Daniel), Dawn Moreno (Cristian), Alison Van Hecke (Jason), Joy Matteson (Ian), Robb Brooks (Katie Ann), Deborah McElroy (Daniel), Kristin Heckman (C.Thomas), Julie LeJeune (Eric), Andrew Parks, Alexandra Frazier (William), Joshua Mateer (Kathleen), and Sarah Mateer; and her 29 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers. She attended Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Wichita. Throughout her life, Ann enjoyed reading, needlework, painting, crafts, and cooking. She volunteered for her church, her children's activities, her Delta Delta Delta sorority and community activities. During her years at Larksfield she served in various capacities including the delivery of library books in the care center, the greeting of new residents, and the organizing of games for the residents. Her memorial service is planned for 3:30 pm Saturday, September 29th at the Larksfield Place Auditorium. "Her children arise and call her blessed." Proverbs 31:28.
