Bobby Wayne Richardson, age 80, longtime resident of Gatlinburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday April 2, 2012, after his passing at Tennova Residential Hospice in Knoxville, TN.
Wayne was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 28, 1932. He enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 18, and proudly served his country for over 20 years in many places including Alaska, Spain, and Vietnam. Wayne retired to Sevier County and worked in the tourism industry. Wayne loved the Great Smoky Mountains and was an avid hiker. He was a talented woodcarver, an enthusiastic Oklahoma Sooners football fan, and was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Gatlinburg.
Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Freda Maples Richardson; his parents, Ira and Frankie Richardson; and two older brothers, Clay and Neal.
He is survived by his loving wife, Emily Sue Trotter Linstead-Richardson; brother Billy Gene Richardson; adopted grandson, Teddy Richardson; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved calico cat, Peaches.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Gatlinburg, 742 Parkway, Gatlinburg, TN 37738.
The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 4th with Celebration of Life Service to follow at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Gatlinburg. Family and friends will meet 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5th at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens, Pigeon Forge for interment. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
