Charles Ambrose Paine, died Sunday, February 25, 2007. He was born July 7, 1938, to Thomas Charles Paine and Hettie Montgomery Paine. He was a graduate of Sevier County High School and Tennessee Wesleyan College. In 1960-61, he was a teacher and the head basketball coach of Sevierville Elementary School. His team finished with a 34-1 win/loss record. His career was cut short in August of 1961 by a tragic automobile accident.
He is survived by his daughter, Tanda Shawn Paine and her mother, Gale Hill Sartain and Tanda’s sisters, Tracy Large, Tassie Cody and Tiffany King, and their extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charles Ambrose Paine Scholarship Fund, c/o Principal Gary Roach, Sevier County High School Alumni Association, 1200 Dolly Parton Parkway, Sevierville, Tennessee 37862.
Funeral service 7 PM Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Sevierville with Rev. Charles C. Harrison, Sr. and Rev. Bobby H. Ely officiating. There will be a private interment in Shiloh Cemetery on Thursday. The family will receive friends 6-7 PM Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Sevierville. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
