GAMBILL, RICHARD "KEITH" age 87, passed away on October 26, 2011 in Wyoming, where he lived with his daughter during recent years. Born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 19, 1924, Keith served our nation during World War II and stormed the beaches of Normandy, receiving the Normandy Medal in 2001. Keith returned to Tennessee after the war to study electrical engineering at the University of Tennessee, and met his future wife, Irene King, near a Knoxville beauty shop where she was employed. The two were married for over fifty years, settling down and raising their daughter Kathy in the community of Oak Ridge. Keith worked on typewriters for I.B.M., and was honored with numerous awards during his three decades of employment with the company. He and his wife, Irene, were active in Central Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, where he touched many lives serving as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. Keith is preceded in death by his wife, Irene King Gambill; his siblings Irene Dickens, Martha Frances Gambill, Harry Gambill, and Evelyn Gleaves; and his parents, Harry and Anna Gambill. His legacy of surviving family includes his daughter, Kathy Gambill Wittman; four grandchildren: Anna Logsdon Childs, Christopher Logsdon, Zachary Logsdon, and Sarah Logsdon Queen; and seven great-grandchildren: Lily Childs, Sasha Logsdon, Abigail Logsdon, Shawn Logsdon, Brooklyn Logsdon, and the newest additions to the family, Keith Childs and Serenity Queen. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 30th, 2011 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Highland South Memorial Funeral Home with funeral services to begin at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will immediately follow at Highland South Memorial Cemetery.
