King, Jr., Lewis Hansel (L.H.) –age 79 of South Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 after a serious illness. Mr. King was born May 19, 1929 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. King was a member of Vestal United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his home, yard and restoring cars and trucks in his garage. Mr. King is preceded in death by parents, Lewis Hansel King, Sr., and Mary Evelyn King; sisters, Irene Gamble, Juanita Sloan, and Imogene Foster.
Survivors
Mr. King is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Doris Grubb King; sons, Robert and wife, Cyndi of Knoxville, Andy and wife, Jennifer of Powell; two loving grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth and Mason King of Powell. His grandchildren were the “lights of his life.” He is also survived by sisters, Emily Owens and Mary “Helen” Barringer; brothers, Dan King and wife, Imogene, Larry King and wife, Dorothy, all of Knoxville; step-grandchildren, Wesley and Candice McNutt; several nieces and nephews.
Service
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, May 8, 2009 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Family and friends will meet at Highland South Cemetery on Saturday, May 9, 2009 for an 11:00 AM graveside service, Pastor Wendell Smith officiating.
