Mr. Benjamin David Stinnett, age 64, of Molena, passed away March 11, 2006 at Spalding Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Gatlinburg, Tenn. on Oct. 18, 1941 and attended Georgia Military College from 1957-1958. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1964. He married Karen Bowers on Aug, 20, 1966. David enjoyed participating in “rookie” mountain pro auto dirt track and 1/4 mile drag strip racing. He was an avid striper and hybrid fisherman who enjoyed spending many hours on the lake with his sons and friends chasing the “big one.” Mr. Stinnett owned and operated Dave Stinnett Auto Repair Service on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta for 32 years before moving his shop to Pike County.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred Stinnett of Molena, his beloved wife of 40 years, Karen B. Stinnett; sons and daughters-in-law, James David and Robin Stinnett of Griffin and Michael Scott and Amy Stinnett of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Josh, Emma and Becca Stinnett; sisters, Cora “Corkie” J. Macklin and Mary Lensy Terry.
Funeral services was conducted on Tuesday, March 14 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home with Mr. Warren Killingsworth officiating. Interment followed in Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Jonesboro. Friends may visit the family on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Moody Funeral Home in Zebulon is in charge of arrangements.
