Richard Lewis Wanner, 83, of Naples and formerly of Woodbridge and Southbury, CT, died Thursday, March 20, 2008. He had lived in Naples for more than 20 years. Born in Oak Park and raised in Glen Ellyn, IL, Mr. Wanner was a World War II veteran who served for four years as a first lieutenant with the U.S. Army Air Corps in this country and overseas. He graduated from Cornell University with a degree in mechanical engineering and was a member of Sigma Phi fraternity. Mr. Wanner worked for Sargent and Co. in New Haven, CT as vice president and superintendent of manufacturing. He was an avid tennis player, a sports enthusiast and was always an active community volunteer. He enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and abroad, but his greatest joy was his family. Mr. Wanner is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anita Scott Wanner; two daughters, Suzanna (David) Cook of Naples and Lucinda (Ned) Stoll of Larchmont, NY; sister, Lucinda (Richard) Kasperson of Northbrook, IL and Naples; five grandchildren, Scott L. (Megan) Cook, Peter D. Cook, Sarah L. Stoll, Hannah M. Stoll and Peter W. Stoll; great-grandson, Bowden C. Cook; and two nephews, David (Ruth) Kas-person and Ernest (Brenda) Kasperson.
