Gerald Glenn Moore Sr. Gerald Glenn Moore Sr., 84, of Culpeper, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Amerisist Assisted Living.
He was born on January 26, 1928, in Alexandria, the son of the late Henry C. Moore and Margaret Lousie (Underwood) Moore. Mr. Moore was a veteran having served his country honorably with the United States Army. He was a member of Culpeper Baptist Church where he served on various church committees and as a past deacon. Gerald worked as a traveling salesman for more than 40 years for Bingham and Taylor. He was active in the Locust Grove Lion's Club, the Culpeper Rotary Club, Culpeper Country Club and was instrumental with his wife in forming the first ever teen club in Culpeper. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf and his coin collection.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine (Stinnett) Moore; as well as one brother, H.C. Moore Jr. Survivors include his daughter, Dawn Dodson of Madison; sons, Gerald Moore Jr. of Lake Caroline and James Moore of Martinsville; daughter-in-law, Debra Delia and husband, Bill, of Madison; brother, Dick Moore and wife, Betty, of Richmond; sister, Joyce Moore of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Katherine Hurt, Travis Moore and Adam Moore; great-grandchildren, Kira Moore, Lexi Nicole Dodson, Anthony Moore and Bailey Moore. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 South West Street, with the Reverend John S. Farrar officiating. Burial will follow at Culpeper Masonic Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Red Jenkins, Frank Jenkins, Donald Miles, James Rowland, Bill Delia and Curtis Brookings. Honorary pallbearers will be his caregivers from Amerisist Assisted Living. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 South West Street, Culpeper, VA 22701.
