  Kay, as she is called, graduated from G.W. High High School in Alexandria, Virginia. After graduation she worked for six months in Washington, DC as an Accounts Ledger Clerk for the National Metropolitan Bank. In June of 1948, after her marriage to Gerald Glenn Moore, she became a clerk typist at Universal Credit Company in Alexandria, Virginia. She remained in this employment until she moved with Jerry to Culpeper, Virginia in June of 1950. Kay started to work at Culpeper Farmers co-op in January of 1951 as Accounts Receivable Clerk and rose to the position of General Ledger Bookkeeper and Office Manager before terminating her employment to become a full time homemaker and mother to their two adopted sons. When the eldest son enrolled in college she returned to work as a bookkeeper at the Virginia Homes. Kay advanced to General Ledger Bookkeeper and Office Manager when the newly built General Office was opened. She remained in this title until she left work to become a full time homemaker again. Kay has served in her church in many capacities and has been in the Culpeper Chapter #79 O. E. S. for over twenty-five years, serving as Worthy Matron from 1961 to 1962.   [S142] Newspaper Article, Asheville Citizen Times (NC), 23 Oct 2004. Katherine "Kay" Stinnett Moore, 74, of Culpeper, passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. Kay was born to George Mack Stinnett and Maudie Bessie Craig in Black Mountain, N.C., on Jan. 27, 1930. Mrs. Moore was a member of Culpeper Baptist Church and the Order of The Eastern Star. She worked as a secretary at Culpeper Farmer's Co-op and retired from Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community. Kay is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gerald "Jerry" of Culpeper; her sons Gerald Moore Jr. of Lake Caroline, Va., and James Moore of Gordonsville, Va.; her sisters, Gerri Miles Hartwell of Richmond, Va., and Betty Moore of Chesterfield, Va.; grandchildren, Adam Moore, Travis Moore, Katherine Moore and Dawn Dodson; and a great-grandchild, Kira. Her parents and her brother, George Mack Stinnett Jr., preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at Culpeper Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Fuson and the Rev. John S. Farrar conducting the service. Interment will be in Culpeper Masonic Cemetery with the Order of the Eastern Star Rites. Pallbearers are William "Red" Jenkins, Ray Garr, Ted Gore, Jim Rowland, Donnie Miles, Robert Aylor, Walt Thomas and Curtis Brooking. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA 22701.
