Decima Ann Smelcer, 91, of Seymour went home to be with her Lord and loved ones that were waiting for her in heaven. Decima began her glorious journey at Sevier County Health Care Center surrounded by many of the people who loved her.
At an early age, Decima gave her life to her Lord Jesus and joined the New Salem Baptist Church. Since that time she has been a faithful servant of the Lord and church.
Her husbands, Claude Rolen and Richard Smelcer; children, Lois Proffitt and O.J. Rolen; brothers, Cled and Ivan Sutton; sisters, Rosie Presnell and Eva Williams were waiting to welcome her to her heavenly home.
Decima leaves behind to mourn her loss, daughters and sons-in-law, June and Kenneth Proffitt, Golee and Auburn Rolen, Sheila and Charles Patrick; sons and daughters-in-law, C.B. and Trudy Rolen, J. Roy and Teressa Rolen, Horace and Doris Rolen, Rev. Donald and Magdalene Rolen, Dexter and Linda Rolen; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; brother, Cleophus and Stella Sutton; son-in-law, Roy Proffitt. Besides the immediate family, Decima will be missed by many relatives and friends whose life she has touched during her lifetime.
Service will be 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Andy Ball and Rev. David Newman officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 1 at Rolen Breeden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
The grandsons have been honored to serve as pallbearers for their grandmother.
