- Robert married Hailey ROBERTSON per M.B. McMahan BOOK. A Robert in census; wife name does not match.
DOB from 1850 census. A Robt. HARDIN 21 Farm Hand, Tenn, Sarah 23 Tenn, and Samuel 1 Tenn in 1860 Census, HH No 612 (Dist 7). HH No 611 is Saml REED. Marriage records have a Robert M. Harden to Sarah E. REED on 18 Mar 1857. Note - Cafry HARDIN in HH No 682 in District 7 in 1860 Census.
Robert, son of Caffrey, enlisted in the Confederate Army and was a member of Company C in the 5th Tenn. Infantry Regiment. (Ref: "The Hardin & Williams Family Genealogy", by Fred Hammersand, 1991. A Robert is burried in the Hardin Cemetery with marker "Co C 5th Tenn Inf" and no dates. (The M.B. McMahan book has Robert as Veteran of Union Army in several places)
The children of Robert Hardin and Hailey Robertson from the M.B. McMahan book. Several of these names are found in the Millican Grove Cemetery with birth dates that appear to fit. A Reps Calfree Hardin was found at Alderbranch Cemetery. The Census for years 1870 to 1900 needs to be checked.
Ruby Moore "HARDIN" notes had a Robert written in manner to appear as brother of Calfrey, with children; Robb, Reps, Pleas, etc. In discussion with Ruby on Dec. 5, 1994; she said the Robert with these children was son of Calfrey married 1st Mary McMahan. Children buried in Millican Grove.
A list of Tennesseeans served in the Union has Robert HARDIN, Pvt. G Co. 6th Inf, also James M. HARDIN, Pvt. G Co 6th Inf, & James M. HARDIN Sgt. C Co 5th Inf. List also has a Robert HARDEN Pvt. F Co. 6th MI, who may not have anything to do with the others.
The census of 1880, Sevier County, transcribed by Carl M. Ownby, 1977, has; Robert M. HARDEN 40 W Farmer b TN (Father & Mother b TN), Mohola 35 W Wife b VA (Father & Mother b VA), Robert 12 W Son b TN (Fath & Mot b TN), Cordelia 9 W Dau b TN, Henry 6 W Son b TN, Rhejos? 4 W Dau b TN, & McOllive 2 W Son b TN.
