John Ridenour Beckwith, age 60 of Gatlinburg went to live in Heaven with his Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. He was a member of Webb's Creek United Methodist Church. John retired from Radio Shack after many successful years managing stores in the Chicago suburbs. His most happy calling in retirement was to work at the Thunderhead roller coaster at Dollywood but perhaps his most favorite times were spent working with his dad on his days off. An avid collector of genealogical information, John was the Genealogist of the Smoky Mountain Historical Society. His deepest roots of heritage were to be found in Sevier County.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Beckwith; grandparents, Milton Miles and Marjorie Mateer Beckwith, Eddie Lee and Charity Reagan Clabo.
He is survived by his daughters, Yvette Beckwith, Jennifer McElroy and husband Kevin, parents, Robert Milton and Jeanette Clabo Beckwith; brothers, Robert "Rob" Shields Beckwith, David Lynn Beckwith and wife Lisa; Many special family and friends.
The family will receive friends 4-6 PM Friday with funeral service following at 6 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Pastor Alta Raper officiating. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
