Mae (Reed) Ownby Keener, age 88, of Maryville and formerly of Sevierville, TN passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, at her daughter’s home. Mrs. Keener was born March 18,1924 in Sevier County, TN. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She came to know the Lord as her Savior at the age of 8, was a member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville and attended First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Maryville.
Mae (as she was called by her friends) taught 2nd grade Sunday School for 20+ years and was a leader in the Women’s Missionary Union at First Baptist Sevierville. She was a member of the Sevierville Eastern Star and Ladies’ Bowling League in Maryville. Mae worked in her early years at the Sevierville Hosiery Mill. She was a talented seamstress and master gardener.
Mae had a loving marriage to Robert Thurman Ownby from 1945 until his death in 1979. She was blessed with a second marriage to Kenneth Keener in 1981 until his death in January 2012. Mrs. Keener raised her children to love the Lord and obey His word.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Thurman Ownby and Kenneth A. Keener; parents, Millie Moore Reed Reagan and Hubert Reed; sisters, Celie Reed Allen and infant sister; brothers, Millard, Henry, Joe, Arnold Reed, and infant brother.

Great Grandchildren: Lindsay and Noah Smith, Sadie, Madelyn, and Avery Sexton, Keller Ownby, Harper Welcome, Austin, McKaliegh, Kamryn, Colby, Alexis, Owen, Jocelyn, and Corbin Keener, Hayden and Kambell Diaz, and Madison Suffridge.

Funeral service 2 PM Sunday in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, Sevierville with Rev. Jerry Hyder officiating. Eulogy delivered by Chuck Sexton. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
