Resided in Gatlinburg, TN
Bill Allen Trentham, age 85, of Gatlinburg, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014.
Born in Elkmont, Bill was a native of Gatlinburg. He lived the majority of his life in the Smokies and adored the nature and wildlife that surrounded him and his home. It took the patience and love of only a man like Bill to feed the ducks and squirrels near his home on River Road.
Bill proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Most of his service was in Germany.
While at Pi Beta Phi High School, he met his sweetheart, whom he married in April of 1953.
In June of 1960, Bill and his father, Lee, opened Trentham's Hardware on the Parkway of Gatlinburg. Tom Colvard became his new partner in the hardware store after Lee retired.
Then in February of 1987 Bill sold the hardware business to Tom and began a new endeavor with his wife, Dorothy Lee as they built and operated Mountain Heritage Inn.
Bill could be found most any day at the Gatlinburg Country Club with any one of his numerous golfing buddies where he honed his avid golfing skills. He thoroughly enjoyed the out of town golf trips with some of his closest friends.
Most precious to his heart, after 75 years as an active member, was his church, The First Baptist Church of Gatlinburg, where he and Dorothy Lee and their church family studied, fellowshipped, loved, worshipped and sang their praises to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bill will be missed by his loving family and friends and will be cherished by the memories that he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee H. Trentham and Ruth Trentham, brothers, Lee H. Trentham, Jr. and Ralph H. Trentham, sister, Jama McCarter, and special father-in-law, J. Frank Miller
