OWNBY, MRS. CELIA HUBBARD - age 92, of Knoxville, went to be with our heavenly father, Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center, after a courageous fight with heart disease. She was born in Strawberry Plains, Tenn. She was a member of Power House Baptist Church, and long time family member of Bever Creek Baptist Church of Strawberry Plains. She was a loving mother and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winford Carson Ownby of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; daughter, Betty Lou Frazier of Maryville, Tenn.; granddaughter, Lori Owenby and grandson, Eddie Owenby.
She is survived by her loving family: sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Emma Owenby of Texarkana, Arkansas, Harold and Cathie Owenby of Knoxville, John and Mary Owenby of Texarkana, Texas, Ronald and Doris Owenby of Knoxville; daughter, Sharon O. Handly of Knoxville, devoted caregiver, granddaughter, Kathy Nipper of Knoxville. She has 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, with services following at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, Pastor DuPre Bingham will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 588-0567.
