Mr. Samuel McMahan, an old resident of Sevier county, Tennessee, committed suicide by drowning, on Tuesday last. He had been in bad health for some time and was otherwise troubled in consequence of the war. He went into his backyard, took a heavy plow mold, fastened it about his neck, and without the knowledge of any of his friends, plunged himself into the Pigeon river, which runs within a few yards of his house. The deceased was about 50 years of age, and leaves a wife and several children.
