March 12, 1950 - April 25, 2018
Charles “Wayne” Shipley, age 68 of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday April 25, 2018 at U.T. Medical Center. He accepted the Lord as his Savior as a teenager and was currently a member and bass guitarist at Security Door Baptist Church. Wayne loved singing and playing Gospel music. He spent the majority of his working career as a tractor-trailer driver and security officer. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Sylvia Shipley; parents, Lloyd and Lucille Shipley; brother, Jim Shipley; and sisters, Priscilla Rich and Charlotte Allen.
He is survived by his wife, Rose E. Hood; daughter, Brittany Geames; and sisters, Jenny Crittenden and Christine Marshall. He leaves several step-children, cousins, nieces, and nephews including James Shipley, who was more like a son.
Funeral service 3 PM Saturday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Pastor Carl McGill and Rev. Jim Webber officiating. Interment 2 PM Sunday at Woodlawn Cemetery.
