Wanda June Laster, age 85, passed away Nov. 1, 2013 at home. She was born June 18, 1928 to Murphy Eagle Burchfield and Nora Elizabeth (Houston) Burchfield in Alcoa, Tennessee. At age 5, the family moved North to Detroit where she lived until age 13. At that time she moved with her parents to Roseville. Wanda worked 25 years at McDonald’s on Gratiot in Roseville and later spent 15 years as a receptionist/clerk at Barnett’s Glass in Fraser. There she finished her career in her 80th year. She was a dedicated mother, enjoyed life, loved her Detroit Tigers and baseball in general. She was as great of a grandmother as she was a mother, her children said. She was the loving mother of Edward Carter (Dottie) Laster, David Michael (Dorothy) Laster, and Kaylene Elizabeth (Edward) Smith. She was an adoring grandmother to Sally Still, Emily Laster, Adam Laster, Timothy (Silke) Laster, Elijah Laster, Jonathan (Kelli) Smith, Julie (Gavin) Sigler, James Smith, Joshua (Claire) Smith and Christina Smith. Dear Great-Grandmother of ten. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Kaul Funeral Home, 27830 Gratiot Ave., Roseville, MI.
