Mr. Minnis Lee Doyle Wilds, age 87, of Newport, passed away Thursday evening, May 29, 2003, at his home. Mr. Wilds was a farmer and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Wilds. He is survived by his wife, Selma Wilds, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Patricia Wilds and Kevin and Rhonda Wilds; son, John Robert Wilds; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Glen Jones, all of Newport; step-children, Gary Norton, of Chuckey, TN, Jerry Lynn Norton, Brenda Hudson, and Carolyn Wheeler, all of Newport; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Bradley Doyle and Deana Wilds, of Sevierville; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Teresa and Nicholas Ward, of Washington, D.C.; great-grandchildren, Bradley Doyle Wilds, II, and Morgan Wilds, both of Sevierville, Alex Ward and Taylor Ward, both of Washington, D.C.; and sisters, Willie Mae Kate, of Clinton, TN and Nelle Valentine, of Newport. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Miller and Rev. Gary Norton officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
