Loras "Larry" Heitz, 98, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of 200 Julien Dubuque Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at the care center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.
Mr. Heitz farmed and operated Greenview Dairy in Dubuque. He later worked at Dubuque Star Brewery for 40 years.
He was born on July 18, 1903, in Dubuque, son of Frank and Mae (O'Brien) Heitz. He married Blanche A. Nagel, of North Buena Vista, Iowa, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque.
He was a lifetime member of St. Columbkille's Church. A religious man, his children and grandchildren were the center of his life.
Surviving are his children, Anna M. Le Conte, Carl F. (Joan) Heitz and Bruce J. (Mary) Heitz, all of Dubuque; 14 grandchildren, Diane (Ron) Clemen, Sharon Kremer, Richard G. Le Conte, Ronald (LuAnn) Le Conte, Robert (Janet) Le Conte, Cynthia (Lynn B.) Fuller, Mark (Julie) Heitz, Lanny Heitz, Dale (Marilyn) Heitz, Daniel (Ronda) Heitz, Deborah (Dr. Christopher) Jones, Julie (Steve) Beda, Jeffrey (Lisa) Heitz and Kirk (Shannon) Heitz; 29 great-grandchildren: Jennifer Clemen, Jason Clemen, Jolene Clemen, Stephanie (Steve) Valentine, Matt Kremer, Tony Le Conte, Eric Le Conte, Curtis Le Conte, Lindsay Le Conte, Megan Le Conte, Bailey Le Conte, Hannah Le Conte, Lynn H. Fuller, Thomas Fuller, Chad Heitz, Carrie Heitz, Cody Heitz, Kyle Heitz, Stephanie Heitz, Lauren Heitz, Courtney Heitz, Curtis Heitz, Andrew Jones, Cailan Jones, Nathan Beda, Paige Beda, Taylor Heitz, Faith Heitz and MacKenzie Heitz; and two great-great-grandchildren, Sierra and Sidney Valentine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; two great-grandchildren, John and Daniel Heitz.
A Loras "Larry" Heitz Memorial Fund has been established.
