LAURENS - Roy Herman Ball, 77, of 803 Fleming St. died March 2, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital.
A native of Enoree, he was the widower of Gaynelle Hanvey Ball, to whom he was married for 45 years, and son of the late Frank and Pansy Hughes Ball. He was retired from Jeffrey-Dresser in Woodruff and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. In addition, he was a World War II Navy veteran having served in campaigns in the South Pacific and the Aleutian Islands aboard the U.S.S. New Mexico and the U.S.S. Topeka.
Survivors include one son, Carl Edward Ball of Commerce, Ga.; two daughters, Cynthia B. Addis of Batesville, Ga., and Carolyn B. Hembree of Laurens; two sisters, Thelma Huey of Enoree and Edith Clevenger of Spartanburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Gray Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Roy Herman Ball, age 77, of 803 Fleming St., and widower of Gaynelle Hanvey Ball to whom he was married for 45 years, died Friday, March 2, at St. Francis Hospital.
He was born in Enoree, and was the son of the late Frank and Pansy Hughes Ball.
Mr. Ball was retired from Jeffrey-Dresser of Woodruff, and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in major campaigns in the South Pacific and the Aleutian Islands aboard the U.S.S. New Mexico and the U.S.S. Topeka.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Edward and JoAn Ball of Commerce, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia B. and Charles Addis of Batesville, Ga., and Carolyn B. and Sonny Hembree of Laurens; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Huey of Enoree, and Mrs. Edith Clevenger of Spartanburg; five grandchildren, Melissa O'Hara of Arlington, Texas, Lanny Word Jr. of Laurens, Daniel Ball of Commerce, Ga., Allison Hembree of Laurens, and Catherine Ball of Commerce, Ga.; and two great-grandsons, Rhett O'Hara of Batesville, Ga., and Rory O'Hara of Arlington, Texas.
Mr. Ball was predeceased by a brother, Charles Ball of Enoree.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m., in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home.
