Lee Ray Thurber, age 75, of Champaign passed away at 9:42 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Faith United Methodist Church, 1719 S. Prospect Ave., Champaign. The Rev. Wesley Wilkey will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy.
Mr. Thurber was born July 15, 1932, in Fairfield, Idaho, a son of Albert H. and Edith Chandler Thurber. He married Marilyn Irene Lewis on June 11, 1960, in Salt Lake City. She preceded him in death Aug. 16, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Thurber of Sadorus and Kevin Thurber of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, Cory Thurber and Shannon Thurber, both of Sadorus; and one brother, Don Thurber of Vale, Ore.
Mr. Thurber served in the U.S. Army from September 1953 to September 1955 and worked as a civil engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Thurber was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign and a life master of the American Contract Bridge League for many years.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Memorial contributions may be made to benefit Parkinson's research through Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, or to Faith United Methodist Church.
