October 8, 1921 - July 20, 2011
Mr. Emert “Buck” Trimble, age 89, of Spring Lake passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at home. He was born October 8, 1921 in Moscow, Idaho to John and Martha (Emert) Trimble.
Buck was a founder and member of Emmanuel Free Church in Spring Lake. He retired in 1988 as Spring Lake Township Supervisor after 17 years in office. Some of the projects he was most proud of were the Spring Lake Township Bike Paths and bringing water and sewer to Spring Lake Township. Buck was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, having served during WWII, and he received medals of honor including a purple heart for his service during the battle of Iwa Jima. He enjoyed traveling to his Marine 5th Division reunions. Buck was an avid golfer and taught each of his 3 grandsons to golf when they were young. He also was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed square dancing with his wife and friends, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren.
On August 4, 1945 he married the former Bernadine Clark in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, and she survives him along with 2 children, Gary (Jan) Trimble of Modesto, CA, and Corinne (Jeff) Fortenbacher of Spring Lake; 5 grandchildren: Aaron (Erinn) Fortenbacher, Austin and Taylor Fortenbacher, Nicole Trimble and Chris (Sarah) Taylor; sister, Evelyn Gray; brother, Roy (Micky) Trimble; and sister-in-law, Mary Trimble. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Services for Buck will take place at 11:00 AM August 9, 2011 at Emmanuel Free Church (17737 West Spring Lake Rd., Spring Lake, MI 49456) with Pastor Justin Smith officiating. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Buck may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Association.
