(November 5, 1944 - September 29, 2017) Rev. Bruce L. Coker departed this life, Friday, September 29, 2017. Bruce loved God and his family. He was a minister for 42 years. He was sent to Newport as one of the pastor of The Church of God of the Union Assembly in Runnion Addition in 1985. He and his family made their home in Newport after moving from Georgia. He served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force in the 1960s. He loved his country. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Morgan Coker and Stella Regan Coker; mother and father-in-law, Jessie Bea and Robert Howard; sister, Doris Lovain; brother, Warren Coker; and special grandson, Bradley Carter. He leaves behind the love of his life, Teresa Howard Coker; children, Lecole Coker, Shone (Kathy) Coker, Debbie (Anthony) Shelton, Jesse (Missi) Howard, and Bobby Howard; sister, Betty Battles of Rome, Georgia; grandchildren, Zackary Noland, Paige Coker, Raven Noland, Courtney (Carlos) Vargas, Spencer (Cassandra) Shelton, Ashley (Michael) Sane, Landon (Katie) Goff, Liliana Sane,Isabella Sane, Micha Goff, Hunter Goff, Hayden Goff, and Carter Goff, Benjamin, Jackie and Baby Elliott Carter; and special brother and sister-in-law, Kathy and Scott Carter; and sister-in-law Carol Coker. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Jefferson City Health and Rehab, Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, and nurse, Greta. Funeral Services will be at 7:00 pm, Monday, October 2, 2017 in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Foster and Rev. Ricky Goff officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm on Monday at Manes Funeral Home.
