Billy Janis Poe, age 64, of Newport, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at her home.
Janis was retired from Baptist Hospital of Cocke County after 35 years of loyal service. She was a long standing member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2372 and also a member of the Newport Rescue Squad Crewettes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Poe, and parents, Tom and Nan Messer.
She is survived by special cousins, Kenneth and Joyce Eidson, of Newport, and James and Betty Eidson, of Dover, Del., and other cousins, aunts, uncles, and her many friends that she shared a host of memories with in her life.
Janis is a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church.
An avid photographer, Janis spent many of her last months giving and sharing herself with friends and family enjoying the many pictures and videos she had made over her lifetime.
Photography was a passion, one she loved to share even in her last weeks.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday followed by the funeral services at Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Craig Ward and Ed Lemmond officiating.
Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in Union Cemetery.
