Bobbie Jean Burnett died peacefully at her home on December 6, 2016 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was a loving wife and Mother who was tireless in her care of her Family. She was born on October 13, 1936. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert H. and Vaughtie Lee Webb Poe, Siblings Bert Jr of New York, Tom (Janis) of Newport, J.M. (Betty) of Newport, and Bill of Newport. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Bill, who loved and cared for her through all of her battle, Son Mike of Newport, Daughter Amy (David) Dorsey of Parrottsville, Son Tommy (Lisa) of Jefferson City, beloved Grandson Chris Suggs of Johnson City who was the apple of her eye and Sister in law June of New York. She worked at Valentine-Shults Hospital in Newport for many years and provided care and comfort to many in the community. She later worked at Parrottsville Elementary school as a kindergarten aide and then as secretary where her love for others touched many lives. The family would like to thank the countless friends who provided food and/or comfort through the many years she fought her disease. Smoky Mtn. Home Health and Hospice who provided such good care that they seem a part of the family now. Personal caretakers Velma Fox, Loretta Ramsey and Wanda Myers who were a tremendous help to Bill in maintaining the home and for giving him some must needed breaks. Manes Funeral Home is in charge of her final wishes and we would like to extend our thanks to them and their staff for their kindness and professionalism. The arrangements are as follows; Visitation hours Thursday December 8th from 5pm until 7pm with funeral service at 7pm. Burial on Friday December 9th at 11am in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to Alzheimer's Tennessee, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919, or donations made be made for books at Parrottsville Elementary school library.
