Calfee, age 92, of Newport passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016. He was a U.S. Army Veteran surviving the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He retired from Lear as a maintenance worker, drove a school bus and farmed. He was preceded in death by his father, Monroe Calfee; mother, Birdine Carver Calfee; wife, Nettie Mae Holt Calfee; and siblings, Queenie Holt, Conard Calfee, Corman Calfee, Josephine Marshall and Mack Calfee. He is survived by his son, Larry Van Calfee and Norma Calfee; daughters, Linda (Buford, Jr.) Calfee and Sherry (Randy) Knight; grandchildren, Barry (Lisa) Calfee, Tina (Bryant) Hurley, Bradford (Melissa) Calfee, Cassandra Vinson (Justin Vinson) ; great-grandchildren, Mike McCoig, Nick Calfee, Ethan Hurley, Sarah Calfee, Ruthie Calfee, Brady Calfee, Mercy Calfee and Kylie Vinson; Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Manes Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Sims and Pastor Tommy Burke officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday October 30, 2016 in the New Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday at Manes Funeral Home prior to funeral service.
