ROYSE CITY — Virginia Rhodes Smirl, 75, of Forney passed away May 30, 2011. She was born Oct. 9, 1935, in Forney to Jack and Maggie ( McMahan ) Rhodes. Virginia had worked as a clerk for the Safeway Corporation. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Heath. Virginia is survived by her son, Alan Smirl and wife Kelly of Heath; daughter Jenny Krider and husband Mike of Royse City; brothers Jack Scott Rhodes and wife Wilma of Ft. Worth and Billy Mac Rhodes and wife Carolyn of Florida; a sister, Mary Ruth Taylor of Forney; granddaughters Lacey, Randi, Kandyce and Kylie; great-granddaughters Alexys and Karaleigh; a sister-in-law, Jodie Rhodes of Denver, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Tommy Rhodes. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m., June 2, at First Baptist Church in Heath with Pastor Les Joslin and Pastor Paul Jacobs officiating.
