Ludmila Edith Cross, age 92, of Waco, passed away Friday afternoon, November 16th, 2012 at her residence at Lakeshore Estates in Waco, Texas. She was born Ludmila Edith Fabian on August 8th, 1920 in Hubbard, Texas to Charles and Hermina “Hattie” Fabian. Edith graduated from Griffin Elementary school on April 26, 1935, and from Penelope High School on May 26, 1939. On June 30, 1950, she was married to Glyn Franklin Cross. He preceded Edith in death on October 12, 1995. In 1943, Edith earned an Engineering, Science and Management War Training degree at the University of Texas in Austin, TX in Aircraft Perspective and Pictorial Drawing. Also at UT in 1944, she earned a degree in Aircraft Drafting. Edith worked on structural design teams at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas for 34 years until her retirement in 1986. She was one of the very few women in her occupation. Edith was always proud of her expertise in aeronautics drafting. She worked on the design teams of several aircraft including the F-16XL and the F-16C Fighting Falcon. Edith was an avid bowler, artist, crafter, gardener and stamp collector. After her retirement, she kept busy with her many interests and even worked at another job after retirement creating and drawing house plans. She was a member of the Arlington Heights Methodist Church. She always loved her family and friends and always kept in close contact with them.
Survivors include her brother George and wife Faye Fabian; sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Fabian, Fran Fabian and Ginger Fabian; nieces Terry Fabian and friend Richard Marold, Kaye and husband Brooks Smith, Robin and husband Steve Warner, Malinda Bundy, Janet and husband Scott Blattman and Karen and husband Ronald Osborne; nephews, Don and wife Jill Fabian, Gary and wife Beverly Fabian, David and wife Susan Fabian, Henry Jr. and wife Nancy Fabian, Hilton Fabian, Glenn and wife Ann Fabian; and her many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Charlie, Joe and Henry Fabian.
Services will be held on Sunday November 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rest Haven Funeral Home - Rockwall Chapel, 2500 State Hwy. 66 East, Rockwall, TX 75087. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m. prior to services at the Rockwall Chapel on Sunday. Pallbearers are Henry Fabian, Jr., Hilton Fabian, Terry Fabian, Kaye Smith, Gary Fabian, Don Fabian, Glenn Fabian, and Karen Osborne.
